Hazard lights on, immediately.
If the vehicle moves, get it completely off the roadway before it stops for good.
On a highway, exit on the side away from traffic — never the traffic side.
Stand well behind the vehicle and off the road surface, not beside it.
Never stand between two vehicles or in front of your own on a shoulder.
In extreme cold, staying with the vehicle is usually safer than walking for help.
If you run the engine for heat, make sure the exhaust pipe is clear of snow.
